Presentation Description:
Optimal systemic health is more challenging than ever to attain and maintain. Processed calorie-rich and nutrient-poor foods abound and are heavily marketed to the masses and gobbled up without a thought. As we move further away from natural ancestral diets, the quality of one's oral health becomes more and more at risk. For most people, given enough time, the soft and hard tissues of the mouth will start to fall apart. The actual dilemma then occurs as teeth are "restored" with toxic materials, which increase oxidative stress on the body. This presentation will diagram the most common lifestyle patterns that lead to oral disease as well as discuss the many dental treatments that leave people in worse health than when they started.
Learning Objectives:
- Become aware of the most common dental procedures that lead to chronic systemic disease.
- Discover the latest scientific research that explains the physiological basis for how dental issues lead to systemic disease.
