Description
Approaching Geriatric Care with Novel Nutritional Therapeutics with Michael Jurgelewicz, DC, DACBN, DCBCN, CNS from HEALCon 2025. Take this quiz to earn 1.5 CECs.

Almost 95% of adults 60 years of age and older have at least one chronic condition, with nearly 80% having two or more chronic diseases.

The aging process can bring about many challenges. One of these challenges is the impact of chronic diseases, which can affect activities of daily living, reduce quality of life, and increase mortality risk. In addition, certain diseases occur more often in the senior population. The good news is that many common chronic diseases are preventable and manageable.

The prevalence of co-morbid conditions makes treating elderly patients different from other populations. While mortality rates have declined for most chronic diseases, some have increased. Many of these patients are on numerous medications, which can have interactions or serious side effects.

This presentation combines the risk factors, client evaluation, laboratory assessment, prevention strategies, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, and novel nutritional therapeutics to support the geriatric patient.
